There was a big buzz around the town at the weekend thanks to Largs Live with street performances, and gigs all over bars, cafes and restaurants.

From an Irish opera singer's beautiful version of 'Nessun Dorma' in Largs Main Street, to a brilliant fusion of bongo drumming and bagpipes provided by Largs man David Paton and his friend, there was something for everyone. Pubs were packed, and the atmosphere was electric.

John Hamilton, Manager of the Largs BID, was delighted with the success of this year’s music festival, saying: “It's such an important event for the town; putting Largs on the map at the most important time of the year, just prior to the start of the school holidays.

"The crowds poured out of the station at the weekend, and I spoke with lots of visitors who have made a trip to Largs Live a firm date in their diary every year. As well as the great range of gigs taking place in venues, they took in great street music entertainment, covering folk, pop, rock, traditional, acoustic, and for the first time, opera, which was very well received.”

He continued: “As a town, we have to work hard to attract every single visitor; a day ‘doon the watter’ has to be on the forefront of everyone’s mind, especially as the days out and short stay market is bursting with so many other offers and attractions throughout Ayrshire, the Central Belt and Scotland as a whole!

"All the festivals staged in Largs are marketing tools to bring visitors to the town as well as a general reminder that we are here, at a time they may be considering visiting other places like the Kelpies, Loch Lomond and the many attractions in Glasgow.”
