Sixth year pupils at Largs Academy got the opportunity to attend the North Ayrshire EU Referendum Count last Thursday evening, as the drama unfolded over Britain's decision to leave the European Union.
Awaiting the North Ayrshire result last week, Craig Bowen declared himself as a Leave supporter, and said: "It is important that Britain gets more influence over its future rather than someone in Europe. It is a more democratic way."
Patrick Dyer said: "Whatever the final result, there will be a massive argument from both sides - it won't be the end of it. I was a very firm on Remain - I don't really like the Leave's tactic on immigration. London mayor Sadiq Khan said on the BBC referendum debate that it was 'Project Hate', and I think that it was quite true to be honest."
Ross Colquhoun voiced concerns about future trading and said: "There could be a world trade importing and exporting downfall. We won't have the single market - that could be quite damaging."
However, Craig responded: "I think we will get more control of the trade if we leave, we get to choose what goes in and what goes out. I think it will benefit us economically and through where the money is allocated to afterwards."
The pupils were joined at the EU referendum count at St Matthew's Academy in Saltcoats last Thursday by Modern Studies teacher Mrs Scott.
