It really is life on an ocean wave for the new Wetherspoons who have selected the RNLI as their chosen local charity, and the Waverley played its part in the opening day.

The new Senior Master of the Waverley officially launched the new Paddle Steamer restaurant and bar in Largs when it opened to the public last Tuesday.

Captain Ross Cochrane, was on hand, to open the new dining facility, which has been named in honour of the famous paddle steamer boats which have frequented Largs Pier over the years, including the Waverley.

And later on the same day, the 70 year old Waverley left Largs Pier at 12.30 for her regular Tuesday sailing to Dunoon, Blairmore and Loch Long.

Ross, 30, has come to Waverley Excursions from Carnaval Cruises, and is pictured with staff of The Paddle Steamer at the opening of the new Wetherspoons premises on Largs seafront.

Also pictured at the cutting of the red ribbon is a delighted Cathy Holgate, fundraising co-ordinator for the Largs RNLI, after the lifeboat were chosen as the local charity for the new Wetherspoons.
