Musical fireworks are promised this weekend as one of Scotland's finest organists comes to visit this Sunday.
Last Sunday's concert at the Cathedral of The Isles saw Jane Guy (contralto) perform to a large audience a delightfully varied Recital of Songs.
Having sung music by English and American composers, her final group comprised stage numbers from musicals by Kurt Weill. Certainly "My Ship" and " The Saga of Jenny" from "Lady in the Dark" we're deeply impressive, alternately moving and witty.
Next Sunday the island cathedral have a concert by one of Scotland's finest organists -John Kitchen. Recently awarded an MBE, John is known as Edinburgh's city organist, and often plays on the mighty Usher Hall organ. But he is not only a wonderful player, but a very entertaining performer. On earlier occasions, when he has played the Cathedral's 1867 Holt organ, you could have sworn that the instrument danced. So look out for musical fireworks on Sunday at 3pm! All welcome.
