Quack quack!

There's a fun workshop coming up on Friday 5 August for children during the summer holidays.

Come along to Millport and help paint your own neon Doodle Ducks for the forthcoming Festival of Light's duck pond installation. It's free of charge and taking place from 2-3pm in The Garrison library (Ages 2+).

The new family festival has been announced to celebrate two of the Isle of Cumbrae’s most historic buildings as part of Scotland’s 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.

The Millport Festival of Light is a one-off event, which aims to celebrate two of Cumbrae’s over-looked architectural gems: The Cathedral of The Isles and Garrison House.

The event, taking place from 23-24 September in the grounds of The Garrison and Cathedral, will complement the existing September Weekend festivities by creating an illuminated ‘heritage light trail’ between the two sites, incorporating light installations made by local people. Light designer Scott Munro will illuminate both historical buildings to dramatic effect, while IT operations manager Iain McGreish will project a graphics show onto Garrison House.
