The Largs OIR group is an organisation for the over-50's. Membership is over 500, drawn mostly from Largs, Skelmorlie, Wemyss Bay, Fairlie and West Kilbride.
It was founded in 1987, and currently has 574 members.
The organisation exists to encourage interesting activities for those who have retired, or who may be thinking about it. Most activity groups depend on the initiative, skills and voluntary contributions of individual members.
The Opportunities in Retirement group has a busy timetable of weekly activities and classes from Monday-Saturday including French, Italian, Bridge, dancing, calligraphy, carpet bowls, book club, table tennis, walking, Scottish Country dancing, Stitch and Craft, cycling, art, and a folk music club. Thanks to John Keachie for taking photos at their recent open day at the Clark Memorial Church Hall.
