Efforts are being made to try and get Fairlie Community Council involved in the fatal accident inquiry into the tragic death of Catherine Bonner at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in January 2017
We reported last month that campaigner David Telford had voiced his dismay at the lack of involvement in the proceedings, despite having held a meeting with the Procurator Fiscal. The full inquiry is due to take place at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on 9-12 January.

On February 14 2013, Catherine, 55, died at the scene, when an HGV crashed into a block of flats - Curneil Villa - on Fairlie Main Road.
Months later, police revealed 53-year-old Mr Marshall had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. However, Lord Advocate Frank Mullholland, QC, confirmed that after taking consideration of all the medical evidence available, the Crown had taken a decision there would be “no further criminal proceedings at this time in relation to George Marshall”.

MSP Kenneth Gibson has written to the Lord Advocate, calling on the Crown Office to include Fairlie Community Council's input within the inquiry.
In the letter, Mr Gibson said: "Fairlie Community Council has pressed for a Fatal Accident Inquiry and seeks an explanation as to why the Crown will no allow their participation now that one is to be held.
"Can you please confirm that Fairlie Community Council will indeed be able to participate during the Fatal Accident Inquiry's formal proceedings when they commence in January?"
The Law Officers Private Office at Edinburgh have confirmed that Mr Gibson's request is receiving attention.
