Largs Academy pupils tried out the dynamic new sport of Padel tennis, and had great fun at the newly built courts.

It is considered to be one of the fastest growing sports in the continent, and has the backing of US Open tennis winner Jamie Murray.

The only indoor padel courts in Scotland have recently opened in Stevenston, through West Kilbride entrepreneur David McCulloch, who is keen for the phenomenon to develop in the west coast of Scotland.

The sport is a combination of tennis and squash, and uses the same tennis scoring system, and tennis balls, with the only difference being the dimensions of the court which are surrounded by four walls, and a polystyrene racquet is used instead.

Coaches Kievin Donnachie and Alex Rodriquez provided plenty of hints and tips.

And as you can see from Charlie Gilmour's photos, it didn't take long for the Largs Academy pupils to get started.
