Providing new skateboarding equipment, and looking towards a new art installation near Largs Railway Station, were among improvements discussed during a recent community council meeting.
A group of skateboarders have contacted community councillor Margaret Wood and North Ayrshire councillor Alan Hill regarding trying to update the equipment at Mackerston.
Cllr. Hill responded: "There are some unspent funds in the seafront car park fund, and that could be a good vehicle towards allocating some money to the skateboard park, and moving things on reasonably quickly."
Community Cllr. Wood stated that she has also been approached by some local artists regards providing a mural at the blank wall in Crawford Street as people leave the railway station.
She asked: "How would they go about getting planning permission for doing a community mural on the wall."
However, Cllr. Hill pointed out that it wasn't necessarily planning permission which was required, but agreement from the owners of the wall in question.
Community council chairman Douglas Blair added: "We were hoping to do something similar for the Commonwealth Games in 2014 but we ran into problems. We wanted to do a depiction of the Vikings from 1263 but it fell into the wayside.
"We thought people coming out of the station and looking at a bare well was something that could be improved from a local tourism point of view."
Large art murals have been introduced in areas such as the Merchant City in Glasgow and have proved popular, but Douglas Blair concurred with Cllr. Hill that the ownership of the wall would have to be ascertained, and consent gained, before going ahead with any project
