Brownies
The 1st Largs Brownies are hosting a coffee morning at Dunn Memorial Hall on Saturday 21 January from 10-12 noon, £2.50 and all welcome.
Soup
The Largs Fundraising Branch of the RNLI is getting prepared and making the final arrangements for its annual warm up fundraising event-- Soup on Saturday--at the end of the month. This has been very successful in recent years and local supporters are now asking when it is and obviously looking forward to it as a winter event. It is being held on the 28th January from 11.30am to 2pm at the Clark Memorial Hall.
Badminton
Largs Badminton Club is back on Thursdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Inverclyde Sports Centre. Further details available from Richard 674263 or williamson.neukfoot4@gmail.com
Largs Lads
Largs Lads Club is back on Thursday 26 January at 3pm to 5pm at the masonic lodge in Frazer Street, Largs. This informal group has developed into an event for people with dementia and their carer. Discussions are formed around gentle image based fun quizzes on a range of subjects including sport, movies, television and music.
OIR Dance Group
The OIR Dance Group meets on Mondays at 1.30pm in the Clark Memorial Church Hall. Dancing consists of Ballroom, Sequence, old time and Scottish. All new members welcome, so dust off your old dance shoes and come along and join us, come alone or bring a partner.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh
A packed Clark Memorial Church Hall was entertained by a fascinating talk on Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his work on the house at 78, Derngate, Northampton owned by engineer and miniature railway maker, Bassett-Lowke. OIR member, Jim Bassett, in his role as Chairman of the Northampton Guild of Design and Craftsmen, was part of the team of volunteers involved with the restoration between 2002 and 2003. The next meeting is on Wednesday 1 February at 2 pm in Clark Memorial Church Hall when the speaker is a Ranger from the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
Train Disruption
Traffic and signal maintenance is taking place on Sunday 22 and 29 January, and Sunday 5 February. For Glasgow Central-Largs, buses replace trains between Glasgow Central and Kilwinning. For Glasgow Central-Wemyss Bay travellers, buses replace trains between Glasgow and Paisley Gilmour Street. Journey times will be increased and replacement buses may arrive/depart earlier or later than advertised train times. Visit www.scotrail.co.uk for more details.

The winning numbers for The Clyde Coast MS Therapy Centre 201 draw for the month of January are: number 60 winning £100 and number 63 winning £50
OIR Outings
Tickets are available now from the OIR office for an outing to Scotland Street School in Glasgow and to Kelvingrove Art Galleries where there is an exhibition of the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha. The date is Tuesday 14 February.
The second outing is a tour of the BBC Scotland Studio followed by a visit to the Lighthouse design centre off Buchanan Street. This is on Saturday 18 March. Early booking for members and guests is recommended.
Stoddy's Session
The first "Stoddy's Session" of 2017 on Sunday 22 January starting at 2.30pm In The Waterside, Largs For those who don't already know, this is a very friendly traditional music jamming session. You are welcome to bring along your instrument and join in lots of familiar tunes. You are invited to start a traditional tune,if others know the tune they will play along quietly, and the group are always happy to sit out and listen to new tunes, or songs.
Ardeer Bridge
Ardeer Bridge Club results of Ardeer Team of Four Trophy/Tourney Cup qualifiers on Thursday 12 January were: 1st Ken & Thelma Ling and Iain Bannatyne & Lesley Cadenhead 84 VP; 2nd Ruth & Jimmy Fisher and Eileen and Robert Atkinson 59 VP; 3rd Sheila Kernahan & Willie Jack and Marjorie Young & Margaret Gillies 52 VP.

Due to changed deadline times set by the Wee Paper the results of the Prize Draw will be published a week in arrears.
