The Royal British Legion Scotland Largs Branch will be holding a Vigil on Friday at the War Memorial in remembrance of the holocaust.
Stuart Rumble of the Legion said: "It is hoped that we will muster about 6pm. With a short dedication at 7pm. Depending on the weather the memorial event will continue till 8pm."
Last year the Largs branch commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
And in October, there was a Largs Academy trip, organised by the History department, which had the objective of allowing the pupils to experience the horrors of Nazi Germany, and also to learn a little about the Cold War and the Berlin Wall. Pupils attending the trip described it as ‘unforgettable’ and ‘overwhelming’.
This was followed by a an unforgettable history lesson - directly from a holocaust survivor from World War Two.
Professor Ladislaus Lob visited Largs Academy to speak to S3 to S6 pupils about his harrowing experiences.
Professor Lob is a Holocaust survivor from Hungary who was sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp near Hanover, Germany as an eleven year old boy. Fortunately he was one of 1700 Jewish people that were part of a bargain that allowed them passage to Switzerland after five months spent in Belsen.
