Largs and Millport Weekly News: Householders were confronted with heavy flooding outside their properties today.

Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue, and community resilience teams attended after reports in Greenock Road, Largs on Sunday afternoon.

Largs fire crew were digging out the drains throughout the afternoon.

Resident Alma Freel said both car parks at Aubery View were deluged after run-off from the Routenburn Road from 1pm. She said residents were forced to wade through six inches of "muddy water, silt and petrol" to leave their property, and the access path to Aubery Crescent was also under water.

Sandbags were distributed as garages and gardens were also affected. The Noddleburn was at full spate.

Alma added: "We have had concerns about this for a while and already alerted Transerv to the problem."

Emergency teams are still helping out at the properties. Local campaigner Archie Burleigh had also raised the problem of the flooding with authorities in recent weeks.

The Community Resilience Team posted on their Facebook page: "Members of Largs Community Resilience Team were mobilised shortly from 1400hrs on and attended Greenock Road near to the Woodhouse Hotel to assist residents where there was a risk of water entering premises. Scottish Fire & Rescue were engaged in clearing water from Routenburn Road and Greenock road and did a superb job. Our team stood down at 1630hrs."
