Largs Rotary is looking to 'jam it up' as part of a worldwide effort to rid the globe of polio.

The concept is called Purple4Polio Jam.

Rotary spokesman Carl Williamson explained: "This is the latest attempt by Largs Rotary, to eradicate polio worldwide. Each Rotarian will be give a free pot of jam, for their own use, when empty the jars will be used to collect £1and £2 coins, to help bring this campaign to a conclusion.

The monthly open day on Tuesday 21 February covered many topics, with conveners reporting on all aspects of club business, with the members given the opportunity to ask questions regarding how the Club is functioning .

Past President Roy Ellison has been named as District Treasurer for the coming year - Roy is well versed in all things Rotary, and will carry out this responsible office with diligence, many congratulations.

A date for your diary is the Largs Rotary Fashion Show at M&Co on Tuesday March 28.

The Rotary Club of Largs extends a warm welcome to those who may be interested in joining the club, as well as to those who are just curious to learn more about the club's activities. The club was founded in 1958 and today has about 40 members. There are no age limits.

The club's core activity is raising funds for worthy causes both at home and abroad.
