Members of the public rushed to help after a rottweiler dog reportedly attacked a terrier in Largs last Thursday amid frightening scenes.
The incident happened at 2.45pm at the junction of Allanpark Street and Gateside Street.
The rottweiler had a muzzle and collar but according to police reports, managed to get loose, and caused a number of puncture wounds and minor cuts to the Bedlington terrier.
A 29-year-old woman has been reported in relation to the Dangerous Dogs Act in terms of allowing the dog to be dangerously out of control. Two members of the public rushed to help the 77-year-old owner of the terrier during the attack.
The family who own the terrier have contacted the ‘News’ to thank the brave people who rushed to their aid.
The rottweiler dog has been put down after the distressing incident.
