Councillor Alan Hill is among a group of Fairlie residents calling for the Hunterston turbines to be taken down as a result of health fears expressed to him in both Millport and Cumbrae.

The 'News' can reveal that concerns about persistent noise issues, which had largely been confined to Fairlie, have now become a problem across the water on Cumbrae.

During a recent planning meeting, it was decided to delay the decision on SSE’s application for a two year extension until June for further testing.
And resident Ginette Gillen of Craig Street, Millport told the ‘News’ that she has heard a ‘rumbling noise’ like a car engine outside her house on the island.
She said: “It was really loud on Tuesday night, and others have also told us that they have heard the noise. It is as if someone has left a fan on in one of our upstairs rooms.”

Fairlie Communitiy Council have lodged an objection to the plan, although Cumbrae Community Council did not.
