Wizard of Oz

Inverclyde Musical Youth Theatre put on a performance of The Wizard of Oz at the Beacon Theatre in Greenock and children from Inverkip were among the 98 children taking part. Well done to Rhys Barnes, Olivia Deveney, Raichael Foley, Ruaraidh McBain, Jacob McCabe, Isla McGregor and Rowan McVicar.

Inverkip Guild

Members of Inverkip Guild heard of the research that went into the publication of the booklet about Inverkip War Memorial.

Hilary Cameron was able to tell of her research into the men behind the names on the Memorial and how she is still finding out about their lives before they went to war.

There are poignant stories behind the names and Hilary has indeed made a change to the Memorial managing to get one name that had been spelt wrongly done correctly in time for the Memorial Service. Now she is asking for another name to be altered having found out that there is another name spelt wrongly there.

There are four Service memorials in the Church Graveyard that Hilary mentioned in her talk also how the Rev. William Crawford former minister in Inverkip wrote of his time as Chaplin to the Army service in the trenches.
