Secondary school pupils are hoping to give something back to the community on a special day in May.

Largs Academy is delighted to announce that, as part of this year's Activities Week, all S1 pupils will be participating in Community Day.

Faculty leader Alan Sturrock said: "To show our appreciation for all that our community does for us, the school intend to give something back by volunteering in a arrange of activities for the duration of the school day on Monday 22 May.

"In line with our school values and Curriculum for Excellence, the Academy feel this day is a fantastic opportunity for all S1 pupils to develop skills in leadership and team work, demonstrate that they are responsible citizens and to show their immense gratitude and respect for our community."

Some of the exciting things which are being lined up include a beach clean-up, a litter pick and clean-up of local parks. They will be tidying the gardens of our local care homes, as well as treating the residents to musical performances and busking on the streets. Some pupils will be helping the Rangers at Kelburn Country Centre and others will run a car wash for our local emergency services.

In order to make the day a success Largs Academy are inviting the local community to request our services or send any suggestions to Mr Murchie, via email gw13murchiedonald@ea.n-ayrshire.sch.uk or by telephone 675421.
