A bid to remove double yellow lines from specific areas of Largs could release 100 more car parking spaces to help the chronic parking problem in the town.
Local councillors including Tom Marshall and Alan Hill joined police and roads officers from North Ayrshire Council for a walk around the town centre and streets along the seafront recently to look at areas where more parking provision could be offered.
Speaking during this month’s Largs Community Council meeting, Conservative Cllr. Marshall said: “We were out with the local beat officers to look at the parking problems in the town. We have been wanting to do this for a while and try and remove double yellow lines. It was good the police were with us, and we identified an extra 100 car parking spaces in the town between Beachway and May Street. In fact, we are led to believe from our exercise, that there could be a lot more than that.
“The issue is still to be consulted upon, but we are hopeful that there will be some progress made.”
