Over one hundred runners from all over Scotland descended on Fairlie last Wednesday for North Ayrshire Athletics Club's annual Kaim Hill Race.

A great night was had by all at this race which is the first in the Bog N Burn Ayrshire Hill Race calendar. It was great to see secondary school pupils Alexander Orderly (38.35) and Carla Murray (47.17) take part in the event for the first time. The third year pupils did extremely well and outshone many seasoned Hill runners. The first Ayrshire runner home was Colin Glencourse - the business manager for KA leisure retained his title in a time of 33.05.

First male home was James Waldie (Carnethy Hill Club) who ran an incredible time of 28.15 The first female home was Jill Stephen who completed the 5k course which has a high over 400m in 32.42. First NAAC runner home was Gareth Brown – 34.22.

The event was made possible by the hard work of the clubs volunteers and the generous sponsorship of West Kilbride businesses Ayrshire Lettings and JMC financial services: The runners were also treated to a bowl of soup at the end of the tough race courtesy of the Wee Deli in West Kilbride.
