It’s all go in the garden at the moment. The weather is now perfect for getting things started. Some raised beds are already sprouting rows of seedlings and there are some plants appearing in the polytunnels. Beware though, there is still a slight possibility of frost.
If you are watering your raised bed could you please give some water to communal plants and pots? General community spirit re watering and supporting other plotholders during the growing season is always appreciated.
Your seedlings will have to be kept watered during this dry weather.
The garden is looking very tidy at the moment. The old pews have been painted, the ‘pots area’ tided, with better access.
The bug hotel has been replanted with wild flowers seeds. The hedge is being cut. The tables and chairs have been oiled and are outside, ready for use.
The big community compost area is being moved to an area behind the garden. There will be a new community compost area constructed next to the football pitch, so there shall still be a place to put compostable materials.
The group are planning a ‘Spring Do’ on Saturday May 27. Please note this in your diary.
Finding Your Feet
The FYF Millport Fun'raiser is back and it's bigger and better than ever before, thanks to sponsorship from Children's Aid Scotland.
There's a twist to the family cycle round the island, with the addition of a treasure hunt, then an even larger selection of kids' activities and entertainment than in previous years.
The inflatable village will be back, including Gladiators, Water Walkers, Laser Quest and an Assault Course as well as magic shows, a party by kids' favourite entertainer Kidnetick, balloon twisting workshops, face painting, and dozens of sideshows and games.
It all takes place on Sunday June 11 with the cycle and treasure hunt starting at 11am, and the fun day at the Garrison from 12 noon till 3pm.
The charity supports families affected by amputation or limb difference, through a range of sporting initiatives and social inclusion projects.
