A local author has just published her very first book in a trilogy of three which has been heavily influenced by the people of Largs and its surroundings.
Fiona Connor’s fantasy novel ‘A Bridge between Woods’ is also shortlisted for the Amazon storyteller competition with a possible prize of £20,000 and a publishing deal. The trilogy is named ‘The Luthan Tree’.,and with a number of successful theatrical productions behind her, Fiona is hoping that Largs people will enjoy seeing the local influences when reading her novel.
It begins with hope never lasting, an unfortunate girl with an unfortunate name. A girl transported to another world, a world of magic. The world of Oracle and it is dying. Hope may be its very last salvation. With the help of friends from odd places, including a vampire with a fear of blood and a 60 ft pink troll can she save a fallen world? Can she become the last Aura alive?”
Fiona is well known in art circles in the local area as an award winning playwright, having launched a local theatre company ‘Gathering Storm’ which hosted a live performance in the open air at Douglas Park during the Viking Festival in recent years which was praised for its high quality, and atmospheric surroundings. A number of well known local actors also starred in the production.
The former Largs Academy pupil served her time with Largs Players - joining the chorus in the panto Mother Goose.
Her father Stewart was a slater in the town before moving to the Isle of Canna as a conservationist. Her mother Patricia is part of the well-kent Lamont family of Largs.
She is a Bachelor of Arts Graduate, winner of the McLellan Playwright Award and has had her work showcased in festivals and the Citizens Theatre
