Concerns have been raised that there could be a motorcyclists boycott of Largs.

One local biker, Mark Walker, has urged the council to look at the bigger picture, after calls were made from Largs Community Council last month to look into the situation of motorcyclists getting free access at the Largs seafront car park.

Mark said: "I live in Largs and I have a motorbike , while I don't use the car park, the bikers that do use the car park put a lot of revenue into the town. This article has been shared on some bikers groups on Facebook and they are not very pleased and there is talk of boycotting the town and use towns that will welcome the business. Largs cannot afford to lose even more business and ostracise a valuable attraction (the bikes) and revenue. The council need to look at the big picture."

Reacting to the concerns over the motorcyclists using the car park for free, NAC road officers stated that even with bollards in place, there wasn't much more that could be done in relation to the issue, while Largs councillor Tom Marshall stated at the meeting that motorcyclists do bring valuable revenue to the town's economy.

The seafront car park is a pay facility with monies going towards local projects such as the new Largs skate park. One motorcyclist suggested on the Largs News Facebook page that a donations box could be put up at the car park area.
