A West Kilbride councillor is looking for a solution to continuing vandalism and other crime taking place in the village.
Todd Ferguson highlighted various issues as causing problems in recent times including vandalism of benches, fly tipping, and pointed out that the community council contacted the police in regards to anti-social behaviour in Kirktonhall Glen.
Other issues which Cllr. Ferguson has earmarked included speeding around the village, and two robberies to local businesses.
He said: “Constituents in West Kilbride are concerned about the spate of crimes over recent months. Anti-social behaviour seems to be on the rise and the lack of police resources regularly within the village only encourages this type of behaviour. As a member of the Police, Fire and Rescue Committee on North Ayrshire Council, I will be asking senior officers for their help to find a solution to the problem with a view to bringing more locality into policing. I can’t commend Police Scotland highly enough for the quickness of their response to the robbery at the Key Store. I do however, feel that regular patrolling of the streets is required for all of our local communities.”
