GET set for an entire day of family fun at West Kilbride’s 2017 Scarecrow Gala! This year’s event takes place from 12-10pm on Saturday, July 29 at Kirktonhall Glen.

For months, local residents and children have been working hard to make sure this year’s tattybogle fun is bigger and better than ever.

Gala Queen Erin Dunn and King Lloyd McLachlan will be crowned during the big day. The event kicks off with the procession at midday. A piper will lead the parade from West Kilbride Station at 12pm sharp and head into the Glen.

Live music will be playing all day, with performances from local acts, as well as mystery guests. There will also be a barbeque and a selection of hot and cold snacks available, such as tea, coffee, hotdogs burgers, and cakes.

Adults can enjoy the licensed bar and the beer tent or browse the many stalls.

There will also be plenty to keep the kids entertained with fun activities for children of all ages.

As well as horse rides, ponies, and face-painting, there will be a whole array of fun equipment to enjoy for just £10.

A £10 wristband will allow unlimited access to the bungee, trampoline, large inflatable slide, gyroscope, bucking bronco, laser quest, mini quads, assault course, carousels, and bouncy castles.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust will also be at the festival offering a fun educational session between 1-3pm.

If you want to learn all about the vast wildlife in the Glen, meet at the Spar shop at the entrance to the Glen, Orchard Street.

But of course, it wouldn’t be the Scarecrow Gala without the festival’s main stars – the colourful and eye-catching tattybogles dotted around the village and hand made by the residents.
