Largs Youth Theatre were well and truly noised up during a recent grant presentation.

An award from the Magnox Socio-Economic Scheme has provided Largs Youth Theatre with £460 to fund new microphones for ongoing productions by the enthusiastic and talented group of young people.

Sean Marshall, Magnox Limited Socio-Economic Officer for Scottish Sites, went along to Largs recently to hand over the microphones before trying them out, much to the annoyance of some of the Largs Youth Theatre members!

Magnox is committed to providing socio-economic support and enabling sustainability in its local communities. This work is supported by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, which provides socio-economic funding through the contract with Magnox Ltd.

Ruairidh Forde, Chair of Largs Youth Theatre, said: “The microphones purchased with this grant from Magnox have proved invaluable to our latest Largs Youth Theatre productions. We were able to utilise the microphones in our productions of 'Our Teacher's a Troll' and 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat', featuring approximately 200 local children aged 3-18.

“The overall production quality was enhanced through the use of the microphones, giving the children a more professional stage experience, and also providing the audience with greater production values. Obtaining these microphones has been of immense use to us as a charity, and we will continue to make use of them in future performances.”
