The NHS have assured users of West Kilbride surgery that they will not have to travel to nearby surgeries during the current GP crisis to have affected the village.
Last week we reported that the NHS was facing up to a major shortage with the last GP having now resigned.
Concerns were raised on social media pages that due to a "backlog of new patient registrations at the surgery that they're being passed to other surgeries in other towns."
A spokeswoman said: "We have spoken to Primary Care and the surgery at West Kilbride does not have a backlog and any new patients are being processed in the usual way.We want to assure patients that we will continue to provide general medical services from West Kilbride."
NHS Ayrshire & Arran and their partners in the Health and Social Care Partnerships say they are committed to ensuring that people have high quality access to local health services.
Eddie Fraser of the NHS said: "West Kilbride surgery has been experiencing recruitment difficulties for doctors following the resignations of GPs. To ensure that patients continue to receive services, NHS Ayrshire & Arran will take over the management of the surgery from 9 August.
"We would like to assure patients that we will continue to provide general medical services from the practice and patients should access the surgery as normal."
