The ongoing flagpole controversy above the former Sheiling bar in Largs, has also been given the heave by council planners.
A removal notice had been served on the flagpole above The Sheiling after a council decision in June, but a planning application was subsequently made by a local resident.
However, the ‘News’ can reveal that the application has been refused under delegated powers.
Planners ruled that its ‘incongruous appearance’ and prominence in the streetscene’ rendered the flagpole unsuitable for this particular location.
