A Largs fish fryer, and Elvis impersonator, will be providing a song with your supper after appearing on ITV’s smash hit show ‘The X Factor’.
Shaun Hamilton, who works at the Blue Lagoon in Largs, has been displaying his singing skills to millions on the famous tv show, after winning through in an audition process, involving others in the food industry.
He appears in the sponsored ‘Just Eat’ ad breaks on Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout the series.
The idents, which are short clips that appear at the start and end of ad breaks, include nine singing chefs and delivery drivers from restaurants available on the Just Eat platform.
And Shaun was the only one from Scotland selected to participate following a rigorous audition process, called Chef Factor. The first stage was an online video entry, calling for takeaway staff who could entertain.
Shaun was said to have ‘blew the judges away’ with his stellar performance of ‘I’m All Shook Up’ by Elvis Presley which he sung – and danced – whilst shaking salt and vinegar on to chips.
And the Blue Lagoon chippy star belts out ‘All Out of Love’ by Air Supply and Reef’s ‘Place Your Hands’ in between the ad breaks.
Shaun described it as opportunity was a ‘dream come true.’
He said: “It’s my dream to be an Elvis impersonator full time, I even won a talent competition singing Elvis when I was 10 years old where I performed in front of 600 people.
Now I’m going to be on national telly, so it’s a dream come true.”
“On picking which song to sing, he said: “I thought the tune fitted in nicely with my salt-and-vinegar-shaking-dancing-moves in the middle of my performance.”

Alessandro Varesi, director of The Blue Lagoon said: "After successfully sending in a clip of him singing in the shop, followed on was a series of auditions down in London and Manchester in which his singing and fish frying talents really shone through. Eventually he was one of the 9 chefs/ delivery drivers which where picked to star in these mini-adverts out of a pool of hundreds of people that applied. He is the only one from Scotland that has made the cut of which we are very proud.

"The advert was aired for the first time on Saturday night which Shaun and everybody associated with the Blue Lagoon where delighted about. The advert will shown on every episode of the X Factor for the duration of this years series.

"We now hope that this will encourage people to come in to the Blue Lagoon in Largs for SUPPER and a SONG!"
