There was a full emergency response to an incident on Seamill beach on Sunday afternoon.

An air ambulance helicopter had landed in the car park at The Waterside Hotel.

Police and coastguard vehicles were also parked next to the A78. Onlookers could see emergency services attending to an incident near the water's edge at the rocks.

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team stated: "We were called out shortly after 5pm yesterday to reports of a male who had fallen on the rocks near to the Waterside Hotel.

"The team responded immediately along with colleagues from Ayrshire Police Division and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"The team arrived on scene and assisted paramedics, including the air ambulance, which had landed at the scene. The casualty, who had suffered a leg injury, was treated at the scene and thereafter conveyed to hospital via helicopter.

"The team has then stood down and returned to station to complete the necessary paperwork before booking off duty and returning home, ready to respond to the next callout."
