The North Coast foodbank in Largs is hosting open day on Tuesday October 10.

It will be open to anyone wanting to see how it operates and meet the team from 1-3pm then from 5-7pm.

There will be tea/coffee and a friendly welcome at the ready.

The foodbank, which serves Largs, Millport, Skelmorlie, and Fairlie moved to a new location at the Clark Memorial Church earlier this year, and is now even busier than before.

Volunteer Frances McGinlay said: "Things are going really well, we're now busier than before now we're established in the Clark Memorial. We're really grateful to the church, the big room allows us to spend time with each person visiting, offer them tea and a chat and provide sign-posting to CAB and other support services they need. We were discussing how to reach folk, perhaps older people aware of the stigma associated with foodbanks who might need a wee help stocking their cupboard - same for anyone bed-bound out of hospital or similar. A side-effect of being busier is that our stocks are starting to diminish - we have a few kind regulars who weekly bring us donations and the Co-op continues to be brilliant but we're a bit worried about how quickly the stocks are going."

The general opening hours of the foodbank is Thursdays between 12-5pm. For more details, go to www.facebook.com/groups/378509985634984/
