An exciting pub quiz night was recently held by Largs Town Twinning Association.

Richard Wilkinson, Chairman welcomed everyone to the event which is becoming an annual highlight of the Association’s programme and thanked May and Dan Renwick for putting the questions and answers together and running the quiz.

The event was held in the Brisbane House Hotel and included a light supper.

A group of 14 members from Largs were hosted by their counterparts in Largs’s twin town, Andernos-les-Bains in September.

During their five day visit, the group visited a chateau owned by Montesquieu, the French 18th century philosopher, the winery of Sainte Croix du Mont, a sail on the Bassin Arcachon and were hosted by the Mayor of Andernos at a civic reception in the old oyster port. “We had a wonderful time and our hosts were most generous”, said Richard. “Next year, it will be our turn to host our friends from Andernos who are champing at the bit to visit Largs. They are very enthusiastic about the twinning which is approaching its 10th anniversary. The Association is open to anyone and a knowledge of French is not required.

"We have family membership, individual and corporate and all are welcome”.

The Town Twinning group is based on friendship, and costs are kept to a minimum as families stay in the homes of their French hosts, and the Largs families return the favour next year. Largs also hosted the Town Twinning sport games in 2014, which involved other twin towns from Segorbe in Spain and Nussloch in Germany participating.
