Art Demonstrations
The Art Club had a very entertaining and informative demonstration in watercolour techniques from Glasgow-based Bryan Evans on 3rd October. The next visiting artist is Ayrshire artist, Michael Murphy, who will demonstrate large work in oils on Tuesday, 24th October at 7pm. There are places still available for the Saturday workshop on 4th November, by Felicity Walker. Felicity is a very encouraging artist and frequent visiting tutor to the club. To attend this workshop, please contact Ann on 568421 for details. Non-members are most welcome at the club's demonstrations.
Eco-congregation
Eco-Congregation Fairlie will have a talk on the New Award Scheme of Eco-Congregation Scotland by David Bethune, Co-ordinator, on Wednesday, 25th October from 7pm to 9pm in the Session House of Fairlie Church.
On 10th November from 7pm to 9pm (doors open 6.30pm), Eco-Congregation is having a joint “Swishing” event with Fairlie Fairtrade Initiative. To join in, you must take along at least one article or accessory in really good condition (children’s and teenager’s clothes will be included). There will also be a chance to preview the Traidcraft Fairtrade Christmas Catalogue and try out the latest range of Christmas treats.
Shoebox Appeal
Once again Fairlie is holding a shoebox appeal on behalf of Blythswood Care, and this year the boxes from the Ayrshire area are going to Albania. It is easy to choose gifts for people that have so little -shampoo, soap, socks, hat, notepad, a bag of sweets or a small toy are just some of the things which can be put into a shoebox for an adult, teenager or child. The simple gift of a shoebox full of goodies can make someone very happy this Christmas. Leaflets with all the things needed can be uplifted from the church or Village Hall, and sorting will take place on 8th November. For more information or a wrapped empty box to fill if you don't have one, call Ann on 568421.
