The long running saga concerning the water problem at Aubery has not yet been resolved, despite the problem ongoing throughout the past six months.
The area, which was earmarked to feature in the Largs Masterplan improvements, has been running dry after a problem emerged in the early summer.
Jennifer Davies had written to the ‘News’ about the situation, and said: “On return to Largs to visit my dad for a second time this month, I find we are in winter and still without any remediation of the local pond.
“A whole summer has passed without any use or repair work being done and I really do struggle to see how that can be given it is of such importance to the town as a whole.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch has been pressing the issue with North Ayrshire Council, on behalf of the Largs Model Boat Club.
Following their regular maintenance work in the early summer, a crack had appeared and the matter was being investigated by NAC.
Cllr. Murdoch said that the council had been carrying out investigations on the pond, and minor repairs had taken place earlier in the year, but upon filling the pond, there was still found to be a problem. The joints at the bottom of the pond are getting sealed.
Cllr. Murdoch said: “The council are carrying out repairs and it is hoped that by repairing the burn and re-sealing the seams will actually solve the problem. Hopefully, Aubery can be fixed soon as possible because it is a popular spot for locals and visitors, and is well used by Largs Model Boat Club.”

Largs and Millport Weekly News:
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “After thorough investigation, we discovered that the seals at the base of the pond are leaking and need to be replaced.
“We are having ongoing discussions with various contractors and hope to be able to confirm when the works will start and how long they will take fairly shortly.”
The popular pond feature built in Largs in 1963 by Largs Town Council, and Provost Herbert Acheson, provided a popular boating pond for children for many years.
