At the recent Royal National Mod held in Fort William the Largs Gaelic Choir Quartet won the Stornoway Gaelic Choir Cup for quartet singing and also The Marshall Stormonth Memorial Trophy for the highest marks in music in quartet singing. The song they sang was Stu Mo Run. Congratulations to Linda McCallum, Marie Ann McCord, Colin Fisher and Gus McDonald who have been singing together for over 20 years,

Colin said: "It was 21 years since we won it and with the same line up. We won the music prize a couple of times in the intervening years but not the competition overall. So this was the second time we won the overall prize and the fourth time for the Music prize. Having won we appeared on live TV later that day. The song that was sung was " 'S tu mo Run " which means "You are my Love."

The Choir meet every Tuesday evening between 7.30 and 9.30 in the Episcopal Church Hall, Aubrey Crescent in Largs. A warm welcome is extended to all new members. For more information about the choir check the website www.largsmoonfruit.com or contact Choir Secretary Marianne Cain on 01475 670187.
