YULETIDE NIGHT IN LARGS WILL BE FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY

This year’s Largs Yuletide evening parade will be taking place on Thursday 7th December, kick starting an evening of celebrations, festive fireworks and fun for all the family.

Once again, Explore Largs BID will be funding the event, ably supported by Duncan Conner, Proprietor of the Bus Stop Toy Shop, making Largs Yuletide a special night for local residents and businesses alike.

The Bus Stop Toy Shop’s Duncan Conner, the man behind much of Largs festive initiative, said: “There are a few changes this year; Santa’s Grotto will be staged in M&Co, along with a professional face painter whose work is amazing.”

He continued: “The ever-growing annual parade, led by the Largs Boys Brigade Pipe Band and stewarded by Largs Resilience Team, features many of the towns businesses and youth groups, leaves the Kwik Fit carpark at 6.30pm, bringing Santa to Largs in style along an extended route which will finish at Nardini’s on Greenock Road.”

Yvonne Prager, the Explore Largs BID Street Ambassador, and the lady who has done most of the legwork co-ordinating the event, said: “M&Co is an ideal location for this one night Grotto event, which runs from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It has wheel chair access and provides plenty of space for those wishing to see Santa.”

She continued: “The M&Co team have been so supportive and will certainly help add a lot of magic to the event.”

Adding: “Explore Largs BID has also arranged to have the venue professionally themed for the evening too.”

Largs BID, together North Ayrshire Council, will be using co-funded festive street lighting to make it a big and bright Christmas for the town.

There will be a whole host of Christmas activities on the night with performances Largs Primary School, Largs Youth Theatre, The Largs Gymnastic Display Team, The Karen Atkinson Dance School and Largs Dance Academy on a specially erected stage in Tron Place.

And yes, fireworks too! Back by overwhelming popular demand, the fireworks display, set on the Calmac Pier, will commence at 8.20pm.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

To complete the Christmas fun, there will be fairground rides, The Evangelical Choir, the Salvation Army Band, Charity stalls and lots of free entertainment at businesses throughout the town.

Nardini’s will be staging a performance from the Rock Choir, Café Bon Bon will have face painting and a magician, Waterside is planning live music, Lounge and Room will both be staging family themed entertainment with kids eating free and après-ski style terraces complete with cosy heating, brollies and blankets!

This year there will be five treasure hunt competitions, hidden in shops throughout the town; a festive Elf theme with a Scottish twist! The winners will be given financial prizes that will be available to spend in any Largs’ shop of the winner’s choice. Entry forms will be given out to each pupil attending Primary and Nursery schools Largs and Fairlie.

Claire Meal, who has been working on the events photos and social media said, “This is such an important night for businesses in Largs; their special evening to showcase their stock and encourage people to shop local for all their Christmas purchases.”

“Why spend money travelling to Glasgow and wait hours in traffic visiting one of the many out of town shopping areas when we have it all here. The annual world-wide shop Local campaign will also be highlighted in businesses throughout Largs on Saturday 2nd December.”

Additionally, and importantly, the Largs Food Bank organisers will be making bucket collections on Yuletide Night, helping all Largs residents to enjoy the kindness and care we all deserve at Christmas.
