Explore Largs is taking part in a pilot project to develop Community and Business Investment Districts.

Led by Phil Prentice of Scotland's Towns Partnership the aim is to harness the power of some of the biggest businesses operating in our town centres, involve more intense public sector input and inspire greater support from local communities, no longer flying solo, small business owners’ BID payments will be boosted by additional public and corporate funds, loans and grants, giving them the financial clout to make real change.

Largs is one of a further nine renewal ballots in Scotland with another four developing BIDs indicating their possible ballot dates. Five years ago, over 300 local businesses were asked to vote in favour of the Largs BID (Business Improvement District) which requires a levy charge from each business.

More news on this development of the BIDs model in Scotland will be available in the new year and at a special big BIDs Meeting in February, Bid Scotland have reported.

Last year, Hamilton and Oban had successful renewal ballots.
