A man was arrested in connection with 'possession of a knife' in Largs town centre on Christmas Eve.

Police reported that a 43 year old man was arrested and held in custody to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in relation to the incident.

The alleged incident happened at 3am on 24 December.

* The 'News' alerted Largs Police to concerns from readers regarding a phone scam operating in the local area.

Readers reported a common incident from an international number claiming to be from HMRC saying they were taking out a lawsuit against the caller, and advising them to press 1 to speak to an official.

A Largs resident told a community facebook page: "This a scam. Warn elderly relations and neighbours - scammers will try to get your bank details."

* At the recent Largs Community Council meeting, Inspector Colin Convery pointed out that police have seized drugs with an estimated street value of £100,000 from a property in Saltcoats this month. He said it was good news in the North Ayrshire battle against drugs to cut it off at the source, as otherwise the supply could have ended up in local streets including possibly Largs.
