Largs violinist Hayley Keenan has added another string to her bow after another top award with her band Talisk.
The group have won Folk Band of the Year award at the trad awards on Saturday 2nd December in Paisley Lagoon Centre. Talisk include Graham Armstrong (guitar), Hayley Keenan (fiddle) and Mohsen Amini (concertina).
Hayley is a former pupil of Kelburn Primary School, Largs Academy, and member of the North Ayrshire schools traditional group.
Talisk’s breed of vibrant Irish and Scottish traditional folk music has resulted in them becoming one of the fastest rising bands in UK folk scene - and they were delighted to clinch the Scottish Folk Band of the Year award sponsored by Threads of Sound.
In 2015, Talisk won the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award at an awards show at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
Hayley has also been involved in setting up the successful Largs Folk Club evenings which have been taking place on a monthly basis in Lounge.
The next meeting of Largs Folk Club will be on Sunday 14th January at 4–6.30pm in Lounge, Main Street, Largs. Tickets will be available to buy from Lounge - £6. The guest artist will be Gary Innes (accordion) and Craig Irving (guitar) from Manran. Gary, from Spean Bridge, is a founder member of Manran, and 2017 winner of Instrumentalist of the Year at the recent Trad Awards.
