The A760 Largs to Kilbirnie and B874 Dalry road have both been closed by police on Tuesday evening due to wintry conditions.

Earlier today, there were reports of icy conditions on Largs roads on Tuesday afternoon.

At 4.45pm, drivers have been stuck on the Haylie Brae for over 30 minutes.

At the same time, a driver tweeted that North bound to Largs is at a standstill from about a mile south of Largs.

There are reports that an artic lorry has ground to a halt near Rockland Park affecting traffic coming north.

Alison Hughes tweeted: "We had thundersnow and hail (like nothing I've witnessed before) and the roads are like ice rinks."

Duncan Conner said: "There is not much moving on Irvine Road - the hail has turned the road into a sheet of ice."

PC Michael Emans on Millport said: "Can you drive with caution while using the coast Road and Ferry Road the conditions are deteriorating.
"The ferry slip is also causing problems with people attempting to get up the hill off the ramp. Please be patient and give others space and time. I’ve been in touch with the council to try and grit the ramp. Thanks for your consideration."
