A Skelmorlie couple have proved that age is no obstacle after dancing their way into their 70th year married together.
Harry and Mary Anderson celebrated their platinum wedding last September, and first met in a famous dance hall in Partick in 1945.
Harry, who had been stationed in Kenya during WW2, wed Mary in 1947, and for many years, Harry had been a publican in Glasgow, while Mary was a dressmaker.
But it was their love of dancing which has carried them on through the decades, and they regularly take part in the OIR dancing on Monday afternoons at the Clark Memorial Hall, and on Saturday evenings at The Willowbank Hotel in Largs.
Harry, 88, was asked what was the secret of his long marriage to Mary, 91, and replied: “Doing as you’re told!”
The couple have been staying in Kilmory Gardens in Skelmorlie for 14 years, and love life in the area.
Harry said: “Ballroom dancing seems to be fading out now compared to what it used to be like. The Willowbank event has line dancing, sequin, and modern dancing.”
Unfortunately Harry took a fall earlier this month, and is out of action, bue hopes to return to the dancefloor soon,
