Whether you like to folk or traditional music, contemporary or classic, Variations lives up to its name by providing a diverse range of songs in its choral group which has been running for 24 years.
Variations resumed their weekly rehearsals on Tuesday 16 January, and carry on in a weekly basis in St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church Hall at 7.15pm.
New members for all sections of the choir, but particularly altos, tenors and basses, would be made most welcome.
The choir are starting a new and varied programme of songs in preparation for their Spring concert at the end of April
A community choir with loyal supporters within and beyond the town of Largs. It keeps its repertoire fresh, light and thoroughly enjoyable for its members and audiences. Folk, light classical, contemporary and tunes from the musical stage are the focus of interest for this group, but is not necessarily confined to these styles alone. Its practices are delightfully enjoyable and fun with its conductor Louise Devine, who lives in Largs. Louise has been a soprano in Variations for many years, and agreed to take over as musical director of the choir last summer, after Alejandro de Palma Garrido returned to Spain.
Secondly, Judith McNaught retired from her position of accompanist to the choir in May 2015. This role has, since then, been taken over by Dawn McCarron who is a music teacher at Largs Academy.

The choir continues to live up to its name Variations with its varied and exploratory musical ethos. New members are welcome. There are two annual sessions of practice, a Spring session running from January to May culminating in a Spring Concert, and a winter session running from September to December culminating in a Christmas Concert. The choir recesses for the summer months.
