Hitting the high notes is a new local music group which meet up twice a month in Largs and is on the look out for new members.
‘Tune Up’ sessions are a welcome addition to the Largs music scene. The sessions – which are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month – take place in the Willowbank Hotel from 2 to 4pm.
The focus is on playing, singing or simply listening to acoustic music. You don’t have to play an instrument to be part of it. Typical material includes covers of songs from both sides of the Atlantic including songs by Gallagher and Lyle, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys and also traditional songs.
All six members of local group ‘Lodestone’ take part in the sessions and are regularly joined by other local musicians. Lodestone can be heard every Wednesday afternoon from 2.00 to 5.00 in the Waterside, Bath Street, where they play an acoustic set. They also play a monthly Sunday afternoon set in Woody’s, 2.30 to 4.30 pm.
