North Ayrshire Council have released information concerning the new walking routes to and from the new Largs Campus which is set to open next month.

They have also responded to questions from parents over the provision of crossing patrols in the area.

The walking routes are as follows: From the south: Irvine Road; Waterside Street; Moorburn Road; Holehouse Road / Glenacre Drive, and; Alexander Avenue; From the North West: Greenock Road; Barr Crescent; Douglas Street Brisbane Street; Glenacre Drive, and; Alexander Avenue; From the North East: Brisbane Road; Laverock Drive, and; Alexander Avenue.

Crossing patrols will be located at: the Gateside Street / Flatt Road / Moorburn Road junction; the Holehouse Road / Alexander Avenue junction; Alexander Avenue (adjacent to the entrance) and the crossing point within the campus.

A petition by local mums has been launched to gain a crossing patrol on Moorburn Road at the entrance to Surrey Glen, which has received backing from Independent councillor Ian Murdoch and local MSP Kenneth Gibson.

A NAC spokesman said: β€œTo ensure our current arrangements are robust we will carry out further investigations once the new Campus is open. This will determine if another crossing patrol is required adjacent to the Surrey Glen access.”
