Morrison supermarket in Largs will be supporting the local Foodbank with grocery donations collected from generous customers at the store.
Customers can donate any non perishable items into the shopping trolley situated besides their Customer Services Desk and this will be collected by foodbank volunteers on Thursday mornings.
Morrisons Community Champion, Suki McGregor said, “We are delighted to be working with this organisation, Morrisons is actively trying to support a number of community groups in the area and if anyone would like to get in touch, please email champion.largs@morrisonsplc.co.uk”
Largs Foodbank was set up in October 2014 and is an independent organisation which receives no funding beyond what individuals and organisations give them.
The Foodbank provides food via a voucher system and anyone in need can go to Brooksby Resource Centre and request a food voucher from Social Services.
A different amount of food will be provided depending on whether the recipient is an individual, a couple, a single parent or a larger family.
The majority of recipients of food parcels tend to be single people who have been affected by benefits sanctions and delays.
However, the Foodbank has also supported a range of people both in work and not, theirs is a non-judgmental service, if someone has taken the difficult step to present themselves to the foodbank they will receive support and acceptance.
Largs Foodbank currently have eight committee and 14 volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering please call 07428 508875.
