Save The Gretas campaigners made their final plea to preserve the back hills of Largs at a forestry summit on Monday.
The consultation on the proposal to plant 1 million trees behind Largs comes to an end on 18th April and a decision by the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) will follow shortly thereafter.
Largs Community Council hosted the meeting at the new school campus.
A total of 60+ residents and campaigners turned up including Save Clyde Muirshiel Regional group who questioned the amount of public money and grants going towards the project.
Concerns were also raised about lack of community funds and investment in the town as a result of the commercial project.
Ecologist John Gallagher of Tillhill, who produced the environmental statement said: "While there is an end date of this week for the consultation, the Forestry Commission will take comments coming in at a later date as long as it is a reasonable time period."
