It was a landmark day for Largs Academy on Wednesday April 18 as the secondary school moved into the impressive new surroundings for the first time.
And on the opening morning, 'News' photographer Alister Firth was there to capture the historic moment.
Promising to be one of the best super schools in Scotland, the facilities have already drawn great praise with first class sporting facilities and state of the art technology.
The first stage in the opening took place last month – with two primary schools and an Early Years Centre moving into the £52 million facility.
Pupils and staff from Largs Academy then moved in after the Easter holidays.
North Ayrshire Council’s Executive Director (Education and Youth Employment) John Butcher added: “The facilities at the Largs Campus are the best in Scotland. We will have the best sport facilities in Scotland, and potentially the UK.
“We have invested heavily in the Early Years Centre and have state-of-the-art facilities that incorporate parent rooms, family rooms and imaginative play and learning areas for our young people.
“We have two theatres – one that is shared by the primary pupils and one for the secondary which is a 350-seater. The sound and lighting systems are as good as any in Scotland.
“Our art department’s terrace has stunning views over Cumbrae, Bute and Arran and will give our young people the chance to work outside and develop their painting, drawing and photography skills in an incredible environment.
“I am so proud of this facility and know that the young people have a fantastic environment in which to attain and achieve.”
