At the end of May, Christians from Largs will be heading to the inaugural ‘Keswick Ayrshire’ event.
For well over a hundred years, there has been a Christian Convention each summer in the beautiful Lake District town of Keswick. That has given birth to many other events under the Keswick banner, both in the UK and beyond.
Several local church ministers thought it would be great to have such an event in Ayrshire and have been working hard for over a year to bring it to fruition.
Pastor Gordon Weir, of Brisbane Evangelical Church said: “Along with my fellow trustees, we were keen to organise something that allowed Christians from all over Ayrshire to come together; to enjoy some excellent Bible teaching and the opportunity to worship together. Sometimes as Christians it is possible to feel isolated in our faith, so it will be great to join with fellow believers for a weekend of celebration and fellowship.”
The speaker for the weekend is Simon Manchester, from Sydney, Australia and the musical praise will be led by the New Scottish Hymns band. The event takes place across three consecutive evenings (Fri 25 – Sun 27 May), starting at 7:30pm at the Park Hotel in Kilmarnock, and there will also be many charities and agencies exhibiting across the weekend. There is also a special leadership event on the Saturday morning. Admission is free and more details are available at www.keswickayrshire.com or by phoning Pastor Weir on 07882032831.
