A Largs primary pupil has danced her way to the top spot at the Dance Champs UK semi-final.

Six-year-old Nuala Cameron- Finn took home the first-place trophy for her Disco duet at the competition in Paisley Lagoon Centre, on May 27.

Ailey Gillan made up the other half of the winning duet, which competed in the Under 7’s age group.

As part of the Graffiti dance group in Greenock, Nuala also performed in the group cheerleading dance to the Vengaboys, where they sealed the second-place position and a spot in the final in Dundee.

Following a 13-hour day, competing in cheer and disco, the primary 2 has since decided she wants to broaden her repertoire in to hip hop.

Having proudly watched her daughter, Nuala’s mum, Lynn, said: “She was over the moon to have won and to have been given a trophy.

“It’s really her favourite thing to do, she loves every minute of it.

“It was a long day, but it was definitely worth it, there were four heats so there must have been about 40 or 50 other routines, which made it all the more exciting that she won.

“It was Louis Spence’s choreographer that presented her with the award as well, so that was good fun.

“I was so proud of her and her performance and its good to see her enjoying it so much.

“She goes to classes three times a week, one in Wemyss Bay and then one twice a week in Greenock, so it certainly keeps her and me busy.

"She has previously done ballet and tap but she enjoys the disco music and dancing more, so we will see what she thinks of the hip hop."

Nuala will compete in the final with her cheer group in October, where she hopes to take home another victory.
