Love is on the menu for a local lad who is to feature in an episode of ITV’s Dinner Date.

Whilst the production team were unable to confirm who the Largs man is at this stage, they said he was ‘good fun’ and ‘all the ladies seemed to love him’.

Having filmed part of the episode in Lounge on July 30, it is hoped that the season will be aired towards the end of October.

Lounge owner Stephen Mcdonald said: “The team emailed us out of the blue a few days before and asked if we would mind them filming in our premises.

“All they needed was an vacant restaurant for the morning, and since we don’t open until 12 anyway, it was the ideal location.

“They came at about 8am and left at about 12pm so they were no bother at all.

“They show our sign in it which is great for us, it’s a really popular show on ITV so it was nice to be asked.”

“It is good PR for us and they filmed footage inside and out which will feature in the episode.”

The series is a unique blind dating programme where a single guy or girl is given five menus to choose from and must pick the three which appeal to them most.

The singleton then goes on a date to the 3 peoples home where they are cooked romantic meal, they then ultimately pick the person who had their mouth watering the most for a final date.

Senior Producer at Hat Trick Productions, Josh Feather, said: “We find our singletons through social media posts and marketing and then we have a phone with potential candidates.

“We receive so many applications and it takes a while to get it down to people that we think are interesting characters and in it for the right reasons.

“We end up with about 180 cast members for each series in around 21 episodes.

“What’s great about a dating show is that it is open to anyone, any age and gender.

“We try and match people that we really think will get on, based on personalities and geography and lots of different factors.

“Obviously its not an exact science so we do get it wrong but this isn’t planned, we don’t do it to be mean or just for TV, it is real.

“Which is a great part about the show, because it is just like real dating, you get good dates and bad dates.”
