THERE may be more than one spirit to be found in a bar in Largs, as a restaurant owner says his mother’s ghost is haunting the premises.

Owner of Morris’s Lounge bar, Gordon Scott, says that his mother’s ghost has come to the restaurant since her passing.

The ghost is believed to have been brought to the restaurant through Morris memorabilia and then again through his mother’s wedding dress.

Explaining the story, Gordon said: “Six months after my mother’s death a customer had brought old Morris memorabilia in to the restaurant and as she was leaving she touched my arm and said, ‘you don’t know this, but your mother is standing right here next to you’.

“If it had been someone I knew I wouldn’t have believed them, but this woman was a complete stranger and she told me things that were so spot on, things there is no way she could have known about my mother.

“It was very comforting knowing my she was there, I think it was the car memorabilia that brought my mother to the restaurant that day.

Gordon added: “Not long after I was cleaning out the flat and I found my mother’s wedding dress.

“I hung the dress up in a room and there was a very distinctive smell, so I aired it out for about three weeks.

“The smell wasn’t the just kind of thing that you would get on old clothes, it was a strong nickel smell.

“Even though I have put the dress away now, the smell still reappears, and I know it’s my mother.

Gordon explained: “Smells are a big part of the whole ghost thing, especially the smell of nickel.

“On Christmas day last year, the smell was so strong, and I knew it was her, it is lovely to know she is still around.”

Gordon lives in the flat above the restaurant, where his mother had also stayed and explained that there have been many incidents which have led him to believe there is supernatural activity.

There have been sightings of different ghosts since Gordon took on the restaurant over 30 years ago.

Gordon added: “Most of the things and stories I tell can be corroborated by people that either work here or customers.

“Like most people I would be sceptical of these things, I don’t believe anything I can’t see with my own eyes, everyone needs proof, but I have it, I’ve seen it.”

The owner is not the only one to have experienced the presence in Morris’s, as clairvoyant and self-proclaimed ghost hunter, Sharron Wallace also felt their presence.

Gordon explained: “When she first came in she said she was being bombarded, and I knew exactly what she meant, she started to choke and had to leave quickly.

“But she has a power, she is obviously able to communicate with them in some sense.”

Sharron said: “I come from a long line of clairvoyants and I have a special gift in that I can see and hear the ghosts, which is rare to be able to do both.

“There is definitely a very strong presence in Morris’, its overwhelming.”

The owner also explained multiple sightings of a man black, which he says has been seen by many of the staff, as well as customers.

Mr Wallace added: “There have been sightings of the man in black in the reflections of windows and mirrors not just from me but from customers.

“There have also been instances of clocks flying off the wall and I’ve even heard footsteps when there is no one else on the premises.

“It’s the age of this town, the buildings are like tape recordings, picking up and preserving memories.

“When I first got here the place was obviously already filled with spirits and there was definitely a lot more movement at that time for them to get used to.

“It’s quietened down since the beginning, as they have become more used to me being here.”

Despite having a personal connection to the restaurant, Gordon has since put it up for sale, however assures everyone that the ghosts are all friendly.
